Our Roles

We serve the three roles of an Mp like other MPs. We deliberate on national issues, the budget and make law; we play the oversight role and we represent our Counties in the National Assembly.
We are the only County Representatives in the National Assembly thus our title of County Women MPs to take on board our country representation and the affirmative action special women seat. As per common parlance we are indeed Mama Counties.

Our Achievements

Our Achievements
1. We strategically ensured membership in powerful parliamentary committees and serve actively in Energy, Transport, Education, Legal, Environment, Defence, Agriculture, Health, Public Accounts and Public Investments Committees. We have two members in the Parliamentary Service Commission and six members in the House Business Committee. We have four chairs of Committees – Education, Implementation, Catering and Regional Affairs. We have two vice chairs – Legal and Labour Committees.

2. Members have made tangible contribution to various legislation and moved motions and Bills including on Road Safety, Persons with Disability, Gender Based Violence and Water. We have actively supported enactment of family laws – Marriage Act, Matrimonial Property Act and the Protection against Domestic Violence Bill. We actively supported passage of UWEZO Regulations. Caucus 47 is now following the Affirmative Action Fund Regulations to commence implementation of the Kshs. 2.03 billion Fund in the Counties where County Women Representatives will be patrons.
3. In our Counties we have made strategic contributions on social and economic development agendas which include launching and supporting table banking initiatives, alternative rites to Female Genital Mutilation, Gender Based Violence Campaigns, Anti-alcohol Campaigns, Education initiatives, Leadership and Mentorship activities, Maternal and Health projects, Water Projects, Sports etc.

Uwezo Fund
4. In all 47 Counties, County Women Representatives are patrons of UWEZO Fund that will give business loans to the youth, women and persons with disability and serve. Further County Mps are part of the Cash Transfer Programmes catering for the elderly, persons with severe disability, orphans and vulnerable children.
5. Caucus 47 is the most active Caucus in Parliament that conducted free and fair elections to get its leadership. We have strengthened women leadership as the largest constituency in KEWOPA (Kenya Women Parliamentary Association)
The Action plan seeks to consolidate the work of individual County Women Mps to get better results as a collective. We promise the Country better leadership the kind only possible by women with a mother’s heart, brains and touch in leadership. We thank the partners supporting us during the launch of the action plan. We thank many leaders who support Women Reps in Parliament and the Executive. We thank Kenyans for the privilege to serve as MPs and promise to be more visible and co-ordinated as we perform our roles and give a voice to affirmative action groups in our country. Long Live Caucus 47! God Bless our 47 Counties; God Bless Kenya.
